YD Featured Block Widget
Adds a widget, template function and shortcode to display a square or rectangular block in the form of an image, title, and subtitle pointing to a specific post, page, category or theme. Lots of customization options, nice CSS styling. Recommended for inclusion in “magazine styled” home pages. Multi-widget is supported, so that numerous articles or categories can be featured in a sidebar or home page template.

@Nicki:
This plugin is only compatible with PHP5. Please be aware that the next version of WordPress will not support PHP4 any more. Good opportunity to upgrade?

le 22 November 2010 à 8:53 h
This looks like exactly what I’ve been looking for. However, when I installed it and went to Settings – YD Featured Block, I have the following error: Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /home/designit/public_html/footloosedesigns/wp-content/plugins/yd-featured-block-widget/inc/yd-widget-framework.inc.php on line 116
I have the latest wordpress installation and my host uses php5.
Thank you for your response.

@Jack:
Cette erreur n’a pas de conséquence, vous pouvez l’ignorer (c’est juste une alerte non bloquante qui sera supprimée dans une prochaine version du plugin).

@Cindy:
Never mind the warning; it is non-blocking and the plugin works fine otherwise. The warning will be fixed in the next release.

How do I use this? It’s installed, I check the settings but it says this plugin has no option yet.
I don’t understand where or how I insert it into a page template.
le 19 December 2010 à 0:59 h
It’s a widget.
Just add the widget to one of your sidebars.
The settings are in the widget option panel.
le 19 December 2010 à 3:28 h
Thanks, I’ve done that but it’s just not showing up in my page at all. I’ve got a widget that is meant for the page in the sidebar and have inserted it there. Perhaps I’ll try one of the other sidebars to see if it’s working.
The site is linked to my name.

It does not appear in widgets for dragging to a widget area at all.
I am using wp 3.2.1 and the atahualpa theme 3.6.7
yd recent posts does appear, works nicely. (I have asked in a different post to be able to use two “yd recent posts” one for all posts, one just for special authors, categories or tags -as I cannot add second “yd recent posts” widget. It just says “no Options…”

Hi,
I was wondering about the code for displaying the feature boxes horizontally; I have a horizontal widget box after the header…
http://www.brooklynbow.co.uk/wordpress/?page_id=271
I’m also trying to make more room for the text, how do I adjust the height of the text?
Thanking you in advance.
le 27 July 2011 à 15:01 h
As a supplemental:
I have worked out how to have it horizontally… though I cant work out for the images to be flush to each edge…
My question now is how to put the title under the image?
Thanks
Dan

This plugin don’t work,
please fix or discontinue it
le 8 December 2011 à 12:37 h
@Dani : the plugin does work. It is actively used on some high-traffic sites. Maybe it’s not useful to you because it has a very focused feature set, but it is to me and probably a few other users so no, it certainly won’t be discontinued.

Can’t get it to work either. As one poster above, I get the following error:
Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /public_html/wp-content/plugins/yd-featured-block-widget/inc/yd-widget-framework.inc.php on line 119
I also get the following error at the top of the settings page, after updating settings:
Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /public_html/wp-content/plugins/yd-featured-block-widget/inc/yd-widget-framework.inc.php on line 538
Would be happy to donate if I can get it to work, but as of WordPress 3.3 it isn’t working on the site I tested it on.

@Christopher: a new version of this plugin was just released with just an update of the framework to avoid those warnings. Be aware this is a very basic plugin. I use it on a few site and find it useful, but it does not have any bells and whistles.

Thanks for widget. Have had no problems installing it. But an image 700×400 appears very small (using it in First Top Widget area). Had made sure that size is correct when I uploaded it to WP. Any advice appreciated. Thanks

I Need to Remove the Title “YD Recent Posts” and the Hyperlink “YD recent Posts Widgets”
le 31 May 2013 à 1:46 h
@Jilliar: just use the plugin settings and widget options, you can change/remove them or replace them as you like as explained in the plugin doc and FAQ.
